Sep 16, 2013 Your mac stores some settings in the PRAM or NVRAM (for newer Intel Macs). Even the selection of your start up disk is stored here. Sometimes, resetting the PRAM/NVRAM can help get you out of the reboot loop if its is one of these settings or kernel panic information causing the problem. To do this, first Shut Down your Mac.

  • I am trying to reset the i-mac from 2007 OS X 10.4. With command plus R or alt. These commands are not working, the computer restarts and do let me get to disc utility.
  • The installation failed and indicated I needed to restart the iMac. When I restart, the same message is displayed. Thus, I appear to be stuck in a loop possibly without a valid or bootable OS. I was able to enter Disk Utility mode. I am not familiar with the Mac OS or utilities. I ran First Aid on Macintosh HD with the following results.
